Applications should be submitted BY MARCH 2ND so that Father can sign off on them. The applications can be picked up today after Mass or from the Parish Office. At the interest meeting held in November, 23 ladies expressed a desire to join and 11 men did the same. We are hopeful that more people are ready to make the commitment, knowing that any Catholic in good standing in the entire geographic area can become a member with our council and court. They do not have to be members of SPC. THE KNIGHTS OF PETER CLAVER AND LADIES AUXILIARY have been, as its motto states, “Spreading FAITH, HOPE, and LOVE through FRIENDSHIP, UNITY, and CHRISTIAN CHARITY since November 7, 1909.” The Knights of Peter Claver, Inc. is the nation’s only African-American Catholic fraternal organization and the world’s largest historically black Catholic lay organization. Of course, it is open to all ethnicities who are believers in the Catholic faith. Most members of this organization belong simultane-ously to many other organizations including the Knights of St. John’s, Knights of Columbus, Catholic Council of Women, and Sis-ters in the Spirit as well as Sororities and Fraternities in order to have the largest, most sustained impact on communities. It is envisioned that ultimately a significant outgrowth of the establishment of THE KNIGHTS OF PETER CLAVER AND LADIES AUXIL-IARY at SPC will be a Junior Knights and a Junior Daughters division to engage the youth. The chartering of THE KNIGHTS OF PETER CLAVER AND LADIES AUXILIARY at SPC is planned before the 109th Annual Senior National convention, which will be held in Rockville this summer from July 20-23rd, which is an extra blessing since it will occur in our geographical area. The members will get to choose the name of the Chapter. THE KNIGHTS OF PETER CLAVER COUNCIL is named after the patron saint of our Church and its formation along with the LADIES AUXILIARY COURT will be an asset to us by opening doors of service and travel around the world of which we can utilize, by providing access to resources, such as workshops, update on current legislature, assistance with implementation of pro-grams. For more info, call TODAY the Parish Office at (301)872-5460. We are blessed to have the support of Father Patrick Agustin and various members of the Knights of St. Jerome to establish the KOPC.
